Operation Big Boy Bed

Hayden is making the transition to his new big boy bed and it is going quite well so far! Garrett put his bed together last week and he "helped". He kept going in his new room and pointing to his bed wanting to sleep in there. I was looking for really cute bedding and trying to decide what to do when my mom and I stumbled upon Thomas and Friends sheets last weekend.

That child LOVES Thomas. We don't really let him watch a lot of TV and he hasn't even seen the show very many times, but he is hooked. I wasn't overly excited about doing his room in Thomas as I was going for a more vintage trains or airplanes look, but it was the best idea ever because he was so excited about sleeping on those sheets! If you are planning to make the transition from a crib to a bed and your child has a favorite character or something they really like, I highly recommend using that particular bedding for a while and even taking them to let them pick it out.

He actually gets excited to go to bed because he takes a bath, puts on his Thomas pj's, reads his Thomas book and now he gets to get in his Thomas bed! You should see the smile on his face. It is priceless.

We leave a nightlight on and put a child gate up at the door so he can't wander around while we're sleeping. He woke up last night, but went back to sleep on his own. He hasn't cried or shown any signs of not wanting to sleep in there. I don't want to jinx it though. He might change his mind when baby brother is sleeping in the room with us.

I don't guess I really need to think about what theme to do for his birthday party this year. I think we've got that covered.
