One Week Old

My sweet Hudson is one week old today and I couldn't be more in love!

It has definitely been an adjustment from one child to two and I have had lots of help. My mom is going to leave at the end of this week and I'm already kind of nervous about how I'm going to do it all. I also need to invest in a double stroller very soon.

Hudson LOVES to eat! The first few days he wanted to nurse every hour. He has leveled off a little and we are now to every 2-3 hours. He cluster feeds though so sometimes he will want to eat every hour for three hours and then sleep for three or four hours. He nurses for a long time too. Hayden was a very efficient eater and he didn't waste any time. Hudson likes to take his sweet time and enjoy it. He does not like to wait to eat either and lets everyone know about it. Right now I am feeding on demand until we figure out a good routine. I might need loaner boobs if he keeps this up though or we may never leave the house.
.
He is very strong and already lifts his head up when he's on his tummy. We have to be very careful when holding him because he throws his head back.

He does not take a pacifier very well, but I have a love-hate relationship with pacifiers so I'm not really sad about this.

He had his first doctor's appointment on Thursday for a weight and color check. He weighed 7 lbs. 12 oz. on Thursday and his bilirubin level was 12 so she had us come back on Friday. He weighed 7 lbs. 13.5 oz on Friday and his bilirubin level didn't go up so we didn't have to worry about that thank goodness. With all that he is eating, he is probably already back up to his birth weight if not more.

Here's a few things I love about this little guy:
- How he holds my hand while he's nursing
- How he tries to suck my face when he's rooting around
- How he looks like a spider monkey when he gets mad or something startles him - his long arms and legs stick straight out and it is hilarious
- His beady little eyes just looking around
- How his big brother kisses him in the exact same spot on the top of his head every single time

I love my boys - all three of them - and life couldn't get much better!
