Potty Time!

I mentioned in my last post that Hudson has been using the potty. I had absolutely no intentions of potty training him right now. Hayden found the little frog potty and put it in the bathroom about a month ago, but it's just been sitting there until Hudson decided to use it on Wednesday.

Hayden was super easy to potty train so I am doing the same thing this time. Like Hudson, I didn't intentionally start potty training him either, but he started showing interest and I just went with it. Had I tried to force it, I'm sure it would not have gone this easy.

After three days, Hudson is doing great and is very well on his way to being potty trained! He has only had a couple of accidents since Wednesday. I don't have any secrets and I don't know how you're supposed to do it, but what worked for us was letting him run around naked for the majority of the day and I ask him repeatedly if he needs to go potty. I watch for cues and if it looks like he's about to "go" we rush to the potty. I also put the frog potty in the corner of the room between the living room and what I use as my office. This is where we hang out most of the day and little boys do not want to stop what they're doing to go to the bathroom so this helps. I only do this for the first week or so while they get the hang of it.

I think it's easiest to go cold turkey. Pull-ups feel like diapers and they will use them as such. At first, while they are learning, I use a diaper (or pull-up) ON TOP of the underwear during nap and at night. This will help any major messes should they occur, but they do not like how it feels to potty in the underwear. Hudson woke up dry from a 2.5 hour nap today!

We've pretty much stayed home and focused on getting the tee-tee in the potty for the last three days. I'm going to see how it goes when we venture out, but we'll have some extra clothes just in case.

This is what you will find if you come to my house on any given day. Clothes are optional. Except for me. I'm dressed. Sometimes. :)

Ah! It still makes me laugh at the cuteness when he puts on big boy underwear. I can't handle it.

Oh dear. You gotta do what you gotta do.

At least he has his boots on. Priorities.
