A Little Update

I haven't been doing a very good job of keeping up with all of our photos, milestones and shenanigans and I wanted to write a few things down before I forget. I thought the start of school would be a good time to do just that!

Hayden started first grade and he is already jumping right in. His teacher is super sweet and played volleyball at St. Edwards. He has a few friends from his kindergarten class in his class including two boys that were his "best friends" according to him.

I admit that we probably didn't do as much summer reading as we should have because it was an eventful few months and I was worried he might be a little rusty, but he is reading so well! I heard him reading the Jesus Storybook bible the other day and for a minute I thought he was just telling the story as he knew it and not reading word for word, but he was actually reading all of the words and some of them aren't super easy words.

He wants to sign up for every single extracurricular activity he can. He is a very active social butterfly. Both boys played basketball this summer (photos coming at some point) and he is ready for the next thing including football and Mad Science afterschool program.

We found out just a few days before school started that Hudson got into the pre-k program at the elementary school. They offer a tuition based full-time pre-k and we were on a waiting list. To say he loves it would be an understatement. He thrives in an environment with a lot of activities where he can feel included and have a "job" so this is really great for him because I can't always keep him busy at home when I have work. He wants to be just like Hayden and he is thrilled to get to go to the same school. His teacher made a point to tell me how great he did last week! He can't wait to show me his daily planner every day and do his homework.

He played basketball on the same team as Hayden this summer even though he's two years younger. He hung in there and they both did great, but I had to do my best to not be the crazy mom on the sidelines when they weren't paying attention or trying to take the ball from their own teammate or taking 12 bathroom breaks right in the middle of the game. The learning process is painful for me sometimes. Haha!

And last but not least, Miss Harley started her two day a week program. Just look at her! She was so excited and you would think she is ready for high school. After watching her brothers go to school for a few days she was ready to go! No tears at all. She said "I go to school too, mama" when we would drop them off. She hugs Hayden every morning and we stopped by the cafeteria the other day and they were so cute. She thinks he hung the moon and he was proud to tell everyone that was his sister.

She loves Peppa Pig, Hello Kitty and Minnie Mouse. Her response to most questions is "yah". She still eats like a champ and I'm happy to report that she will now go potty in public bathrooms.
