Monday Morning Memo

Garrett and I are doing the Dave Ramsey Total Money Makeover and so far we have made quite a bit of progress. Sometimes I think Garrett gets tired of hearing me say "Dave wouldn't like that" and he thinks of me as the money police, but I know that in the end we will be glad we did it.

We paid off all of our medical bills and a couple of other things last month. We were also able to add money to our savings. I hate medical bills and though it wasn't fun writing checks for them, it is really nice to know that we don't have to worry about them. My doctor is prepaid for the portion of the delivery that insurance doesn't cover and that is also a relief.

We are trying to cut way back on dining out. We didn't realize how much we were spending until we started keeping track of it. Yikes! I made a menu last weekend and we actually went to the store with a plan instead of just throwing stuff in the basket. We have made several things out of The Pioneer Woman's cookbook and have spent a lot less money eating out! I have even cooked several of those things myself. Yes, crazy I know! Garrett doesn't know what to think.

I didn't leave the house from the time I got home from work on Friday until I left for work this morning, which also means I didn't get dressed or put on makeup. It was actually quite nice! Hayden and I hung out all day Saturday playing, cleaning and resting. We also took down the Christmas decorations. Taking them down is never as much fun as putting them up! We had plans to go to church yesterday, but Hayden isn't feeling just great so we stayed home.

Hayden is moving bedrooms and his new furniture has come in. We are going to pick it up this weekend! Hayden's room will now become the baby's room and we are also turning the office into a playroom. We still have a lot of work to do, but hopefully it will all come together.

I received great news this weekend that my aunt is going to be able to be my doula!! She lives in San Angelo (and I highly recommend her if you live there) and we weren't sure how she was going to be able to make it here in time so I have been looking for another one. Well, it turns out that she will not be working around the time of my due date and can be here with a quick phone call. I am really excited about this! There were several things I would have done differently during Hayden's delivery and I'm glad she can be here to be my advocate.

We are trying to enjoy the next several weeks as a family of three until our next little blessing arrives. We are so excited and can't wait for Hayden to be a big brother!!

Have a great week!

  2. Dave Ramsey rocks. Corey and I did it a couple of years ago and we are in such a better place financially, now that may change when we go to one income, but we'll see:) It is the best feeling to pay for everything with cash.
Can't wait to see your little boy.
