FAQ

I get asked the same few questions a lot by friends and family and here's my answers. (not that anybody cares, its just for record keeping sake)

1. Do Hayden and Hudson look alike?
Yes, they have striking similarities, but each have their own special features. Hudson's head is smaller and his forehead is different. His eyes are also different from Hayden's. I definitely think you will be able to look at them and tell they are brothers. Below are pictures of both of them right after they were born.

2. Who does Hudson look like? Me or Garrett?
I don't really know. It is kind of hard to tell right now. I think he has Garrett's eyes. I, along with a lot of other people, think Hayden looks like me, but I see this changing as he gets older. So, who knows. They are a good mix of us both I guess.

3. Why on earth did you want to have a natural, unmedicated childbirth? Are you crazy?
I think every single person I know has asked me this. First of all, I had previously been induced and for me personally, that experience was not just great and I knew I wanted to do things differently this time. I was more educated this time around and knew about all of the benefits of a natural birth and I wanted to let Hudson come when he was ready. It is really mind over matter and once I convinced myself that I could do it, there was no turning back. My aunt who is a doula was not able to be there for the delivery, but she encouraged me throughout my pregnancy and to be honest, I'm pretty sure she's the only person that truly believed I would be able to do it.
Would you do it again now knowing what it is like?
Absolutely. It was everything I had hoped for and I felt great! There were a few minutes there at the end that I questioned my sanity, but it was worth it. Childbirth is beautiful and challenging no matter how it is done. This was just my preference. You never really know how pregnancy, labor and delivery are going to go and I was blessed that things worked out the way I wanted.

4. Do you get your H's twisted and call them by the wrong name?
All the time and I've been calling Hayden by Garrett's name. I'm all confused. I just go down the list until I get it right.

4. Are y'all going to have more children?
What?! Ask me again when this baby is sleeping through the night and I can go one day without having a conversation about poop. Why is it that once you have one kid, people assume there's always going to be more?  No, but really, the answer to this question leans more toward yes than no at this time. Now, rather I birth the next one from my loins or we pursue adoption is not for sure.
