Update on the Boys

I LOVE capturing memories through my lens and consider it a blessing that I am able to do that for other people. I am not sure that everyone realizes just how much work running a photography business entails and a person truly has to be passionate about it to make it work. It is a whole lot more than taking a few pictures for fun. It comes with constantly challenging yourself to become better, learning new techniques, answering emails, sales tax, bookkeeping, hours of preparation and editing. I say all of this because it is not as glamorous as it may seem and I do it because I love it, not because it is easy or making me rich. I sometimes don't want to bring my camera out when I'm at home or with family. I want to continue to enjoy taking pictures "for fun" on my own time and not get burnt out so I'm going to make an effort to do this starting in January. That is where my passion began and I don't want to lose sight of that.

I did take Hudson with me on a shoot the other day (I had help, of course) and took a few shots of him.  He can be grumpy and he is as ornery as they come, but he has such a gentle, sweet spirit and I just love watching him. I don't ever want to forget these early years with my boys.

Hudson:
- He will be 21 months old on December 8. Only three short months until he turns two. Really?
- He has started talking more even in the last week. His teachers noticed it too. I don't have any trouble understanding what he wants.
- He loves playing with stickers, play-doh and coloring.
- He loves building towers with legos or blocks.
- He is learning letters, shapes, numbers and colors. He is interested in some more than others.
- He likes to read books and sing songs.
- He likes the iphone almost as much as his brother does.
- I get asked quite often if he is big for his age because he is so tall.
- He is my little cuddle bug and so very sweet. He holds out his hands and says "wuv you dis much". Gosh I love him.
- While he is very sweet, he is also rather opinionated and vocal about not getting what he wants.
- Neither one of them are morning people. Every morning is usually an hour of total meltdowns until they are fed and ready to be awake for the day.

Picture taken at KDO. I was happy that it wasn't some cheesy background and that he cooperated and gave a real smile, something he will never do for me.

Hayden:
- He says the funniest things. I wish I could remember them all. For instance:
  • The other day I told Hudson that if he didn't stop taking his shoes off I was going to duct tape them to his feet. Hayden's reply was "Why are you going to tape ducks to his feet?"
  • I don't like to sleep. I like to go Wal-Mart and Target and play outside. (He likes those places because he can look at monster trucks while we're there.)
  • Daddy, why do you have to go to work? Garrett: So I can make money. So we can buy more monster trucks?!
  • Me: Hayden, please pick up your room. Mom, I don't have time. We're going to be late.
  • He also tells me his back hurts when I ask him to pick up toys. Yeah, okay dude. Just pick them up.
  • Me: Hayden, I need you to listen. But mom, I need you to be nice. You're my best friend. (He's such a negotiator).
- He loves playing with other kids and had a great time playing with his cousins last week.
- We're still amazed that he has done so well after his tonsillectomy. He talks much better and has not been sick at all until recently.
- He really has to be doing something at all times. He gets bored very easily.
- He is quite the performer as long as there are no strangers around. Boy has zero rhythm, however.
- He is learning a lot at school, but he is like his father and is not overly interested in academics.

The spring is going to be crazy. Hudson will turn two in March, Hayden will turn four in April and we will have a new baby in May. God is good.
