Easter Sunday

I promise this is it. I have nighttime insomnia and decided I would catch up while I had the chance. I can't sleep at night and then I want to sleep during the day when it is impossible. Just a glimpse into my near future I suppose.

We had a fairly low key Easter Sunday. I am pretty much past the point of being able to travel so we stayed here. I guess I should mention that Garrett and I went to dinner by ourselves last night! That hasn't happened since December so it is definitely worth noting. I wish we were able to do that more often, but it's really hard when you don't have relatives living in the same town and always have to pay a babysitter to go somewhere.

Our church had their Easter service at the Erwin Center for the second year and it was awesome as expected. Then we went downtown for a little while this afternoon to visit an Easter cookout that another church was hosting for the homeless. One of our neighbors is a pastor there and instead of having a traditional Easter service, they host this event every year to share the gospel, food, clothing, music and compassion with those who otherwise wouldn't receive it today. We weren't able to stay for long since Hayden and Hudson weren't feeling well, but it was truly humbling to see. Easter isn't just about the eggs and candy and fancy new clothes. Jesus paid a price for us ALL and we can now live in hope. What an amazing day to celebrate.

He was really proud of all of his stickers from church.

I always tell my clients not to feel bad when their children are not cooperating for photos because it really could be worse. I know this because this is what happens to me every. single. time. I sure do love those crazy boys though.

 Not gonna happen.

A family photo quickly went out the window because Garrett had to get Hudson out of the neighbor's yard, but this sweetheart said "I'll take a picture with you, Mom." I think he was feeling bad about not taking a picture with his brother.

 A little confetti egg fun.

I hope you had a blessed Easter! We certainly did.
