Big News

No, I'm not pregnant. Just thought I should clarify that.

I've been working behind the scenes on starting a photography business and have worked really hard for a long time to prepare for this. I did NOT want to be one of the newbies that many veteran photographers in the business despise because I got a decent camera and thought I knew what I was doing. That is one of the things I love about it, there is never an end to what you can learn or the ability to push yourself creatively. Photography has been a big part of my professional career in advertising and marketing for the last six years and has always been a passion of mine, but the thought of doing it as a profession was always stored in the back of my mind.

I am still working for the same association I have been working for and will continue to do so, but due to some changes in my position, the timing could not have worked out more perfectly. If you've never believed that God can do great things in your life, you should know that my journey to this place has been nothing short of God's carefully crafted handiwork.

I kept telling myself that I wasn't ready, but I just decided that there's no time like the present and I needed to stop letting my fear of failure delay things. Do I know everything there is to know? No. But I am excited to start this journey and I'm committed to always trying to better myself.

He who calls you is faithful; He will surely do it. 1 Thessalonians 5:24

So, without further ado, I would like to introduce you to Lindsey Jost Photography! My website is not quite ready yet because I'm still tweaking a few things, but I'll be adding to the blog and Facebook in the meantime.

Brainwashed

I traveled to the great state of Oklahoma a few weeks ago to be "Brainwashed" by the ever-so-talented photographer, Lauren Clark. It was a whirlwind trip! I flew into Tulsa and drove to Stillwater the next morning and then back to Tulsa that night only to get up at 3:30 a.m. to make my 6 a.m. flight back home. I would do it all over again though because it was an amazing experience and I spent it not only with Lauren, but with two other really great people.

I think I missed my boys more than they missed me. It was the first time I left Hudson for more than a few hours, but my mom came to watch them and I knew they were in good hands. He did really well and drank the milk I had pumped out of his sippy cup like a champ!

Photography has long been a passion of mine, but I've just been kind of stumbling through not really making the time to fully pursue it. That is, until now. I really did leave feeling brainwashed and loaded with more information than I know what to do with. I'm still sorting through all of it.

Here are a few pics from the session we shot with Lauren. We had the CUTEST little family as our models! These are not perfect and some were shot with my kit lens (blech, gag, spit), but I was learning as I went and trying to move quickly. It is a continual learning experience and the more I learn, the more critical I am of myself, but you have to start somewhere!

The beautiful Lauren Clark. I have to admit that I was kind of star struck when I knocked on her door, but she immediately made us feel comfortable and was truly genuine in her advice to us. She is pregnant and was sick that day, but still gave us her time and even sat with us at a coffee shop late that night.

The Copeland Family

I got to take pictures of Christi and her family, which includes sweet little miss Harper, before Christmas. Here's some of my favorites.

 Beautiful girls!

 Precious!

 Love this big smile!

 Look at that hat!

December Sun

The weather was great while we were in San Angelo and we met Cody and Granna at the park one day.
Just some fun pics from the day.

Addi Grace Turns 1

I went to my friend Courtney's little girl's birthday party on Saturday. She was so cute and just chatted the entire time. I am so glad I was able to be there!

Here's a few pics I took while I was there. More to come later!

Tu-Tu Cute!

Christi brought Harper over the other day and I took a few pictures of her in a sweet little Christmas outfit. Feathers and bows and tu-tus, oh my! What would I ever do with a girl?! I just love her.

Lovin' this Weather

We played around in the front yard yesterday and I took some pics. We are loving this weather!

 See my teeth?

Oh, how I wish I could just bottle up this precious face, those sweet lips and those beautiful eyes and save it forever.
(Don't tell anyone I had to photoshop a booger out of that sweet nose. Ha!)

Silly boy!

He works hard for the money.

Work in Progress

I am teaching myself how to shoot manually with my camera as opposed to full auto. We had a mini photoshoot with the boys yesterday and let's just say that using two rather wiggly subjects as your guinea pigs is probably not the easiest way to learn.

After about 45 minutes, I was frustrated, the boys were cranky, we were all hot and I was sure that I hadn't gotten any good shots. However, after I got home and started working on them, I don't guess it was that bad for a complete amateur. I am definitely still a work in progress, but having so much fun learning new things!

Here's some of the other shots from yesterday that weren't in the previous post. The lighting on most of these is bad and editing only helped so much, but I didn't want to scrap them because the pictures are still cute.

"I love you THIS MUCH!"
