We started off the week with a couple of spots I noticed on the palms of Hayden's hands and feet on Monday night. By the end of the day Tuesday, there were more spots and he had a fever. Hand-foot-and mouth disease is going around like CRAZY and of course Hayden got it because he catches everything apparently. It started earlier this year and they have seen more cases. It usually doesn't start going around until later in the summer.
It isn't as bad as it sounds though unless they won't eat because of the blisters in their mouth. Then they get dehydrated. Hayden, however, doesn't give up food that easily and he ate anyway. It does cause "cold like" symptoms which led to a runny nose and in turn a double ear infection. He seems to be on the mend though so we will keep our fingers crossed.
Also, he is getting a mouth full of teeth. He now has all eight in the front (top and bottom) and I can see more coming. I'm sure that hasn't helped out his situation. He has been chewing his fingers and biting whatever he can get his hands on, including me.
He is holding steady between 24 and 25 lbs. and eats more than a grown man sometimes. He doesn't really participate in circle time at school because he is too busy doing other things or trying to get to the food on the table. We might have to work on that. :) He is walking more sure footed now and terrorizes anything in his path. He's fast too!
On to my next post about our garage sale!
