Brothers

Garrett had to go out of town for work this past weekend and while I was not looking forward to this at first, we actually had a lot of fun. It is always easier to have an extra set of hands, but I enjoyed precious time with my boys.

I decided when Garrett left that I wasn't going to stress and we were just going to get in a lot of playing, snuggling and mommy time. Even though I work from home, we don't usually have the opportunity to just spend time together during the day because, believe it or not, I do work a lot! I am working on making more dedicated time for them though.

Friday night, we went shopping and to the park and then came home and had dinner and talked about our day. Then the boys took a bath, Hayden "read" the Jesus Storybook Bible to Hudson with my help, I got lots of kisses and they went to bed.

Saturday morning, the three of us went to our favorite breakfast spot, Kerbey Lane, and it was actually quite pleasant. I think sometimes I just need to slow down and soak it all in and not worry about the small stuff. It makes life so much easier and my time with them much more enjoyable.

It brings absolute joy to my heart to watch these two together. I know that there will certainly be fights and tears, but I also know that they will always have someone on their team and share a friendship that can never be replaced.

People ask me A-L-L the time if I wish I had a girl or if we're going to have another baby so we can try for a girl. First, I am not certain that I will be having anymore biological children. Secondly, there is no guarantee that we would have a girl. We don't get to decide that. If God blessed us with a girl, we would love her dearly. My mom and I are very close and if I get to share that bond with a daughter I would be more than thrilled. Any daughter of Garrett's would without a doubt be a daddy's girl. We could also have another boy and we would love him just the same.

But most importantly, we certainly do not feel like we have been cheated because we have two boys.

As we were walking home, I looked down and this is what I saw.

This makes my mommy heart smile. :)

Sometimes being a brother is even better than being a superhero.
