We stayed overnight that first night for observation and his oxygen saturation kept dropping. Hopefully, removing his tonsils will help with the sleep apnea among other things. They were so big they were obstructing his airway.
He is in a lot of pain and he's miserable. I'm trying to stay ahead of the pain with his pain medication and ice packs. I feel so bad for him, but I'm glad we did it now rather than later. They say the older you get the harder it is to recover.
This is day four. We have been warned that days 5-7 are difficult because the scabs from the surgery start to slough off and bleed and it is very painful. I'm praying specifically that we can manage the pain and keep him hydrated.
Waiting in pre-op
Dr. C said he just strolled right into the operating room like he owned the place. Such a big boy!
Snuggling with my little man after surgery. So sad.
We've watched 9,000,000,637 movies. I'm not lying.
On a happy note, birthday party pics to come soon!
